Build My Future Oklahoma

Build my Future tulsa

On October 30, 2024, the 5th annual Build My Future Tulsa transforms Tulsa Tech’s Riverside Campus hanger and tarmac into a construction-related exhibition space for students to explore and experience practical hands-on activities such as finishing concrete and heavy equipment operation or explore the digital environment through virtual simulations.

In 2022, over a thousand high school students from fifteen schools in the Tulsa metropolitan area were invited to attend.

Once again, we sincerely appreciate the support of Tulsa Technology Center and our sustaining sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers.

Introduction to Construction

The HBA Charitable Foundation provides grant funding for introduction to construction courses at Union Public Schools’ Freshman Academy and High School and at Tulsa Public Schools’ Nathan Hale High School. Collectively, over 500 students are enrolled in this section of the Home Builders Institute’s Pre-Apprentice Certificate Training (PACT) curriculum. Students learn construction focused skills, receive hands-on training, and master the knowledge needed for an entry-level job in the building industry.

TEAM WORKS

The HBA Charitable Foundation sponsors Team Works, a SkillsUSA Oklahoma competition, where student teams demonstrate their carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry skills in the completion of a construction project. Judging is based on project specific criteria with prizes awarded to top-ranking teams and advancement to the national SkillsUSA competition. Team Works is not only a SkillsUSA competition, but a unique way of learning for each team member to maximize their skills for future leadership and employment opportunities.
